What’s inside our Organic Solid Shampoos?

Today it’s about what’s inside our organic solid shampoos but not only!

“How to use it?” and “what are the differences with a cold-processed soap used as shampoo?” are also the questions we mainly received.

Ingredients details

We propose 5 types of solid shampoo because hair are different and we need to address each specificity.

Powders and Clays

If you recently read our previous post about the powder’s power to wash hair, you may know that using plant/fruit/root powders or clays to wash hair is an ancestral method and it’s still been used in some part of the World.

Each plant or clay has its own benefit, for example Rhassoul is great for greasy hair and has been used for centuries in Morroccan’s hammams (and it’s still the case); in India, the Brahmi powder is wonderful to strengthen thin hair and help to reduce hair fall.

Oils

Oils are used in all our shampoos, even the one for greasy hair. Oils are important to nourish hair and, here again, each oil used is specific depending on hair’s type. For greasy hair, jojoba oil the perfect one but for dry hair, it’s the avocado oil.

Essential Oils

Basically, we truly believe in the essential oils’ power in all our handmade products. Essential oils have such impact on our body, that again they have been deeply analyzed to be added in our shampoos bar. For example, the essential oils of Rosemary and Geranium are perfect for Hair fall.

Plus, they give a natural smell to your hair 😉

Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate and Decyl Glucoside

The Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate is a soft surfactant deriving from Coconut oil. It gives the foaming to help to spread the product within your hair. The Decyl glucoside is another surfactant derived from sugar and approved by Ecocert.

Our solid shampoo have been formulated with the minimum concentration of surfactants, which explains the low foaming comparing to other shampoos.

Beeswax and Sodium Lactate

Beeswax and Sodium lactate (liquid salt naturally derived from the fermentation of sugars found in corn and beets) help to maintain a solid form and keep it use after use.

Cornstarch

Wonderful ingredients helping to reduce static in hair: no need anymore to use conditioner 😉

Glyceryl Stearate Citrate

Anionic, natural and palm-free emulsifier based on rapeseed (canola) oil.

How to use it?

You don’t need too much product to wash your hair so it’s economical. You only have to spread the solid shampoo on your scalp then mass your hair, wash your body (and let the shampoo giving its good effects on your hair) and rinse all ;-).

Avoid to put it on your hair ends: it’s not necessary, hair ends will be washed during the rinse.

What’s the difference with a cold process soap used as shampoos?

Our solid shampoos are not cold-process soap used for shampoos.

The main difference is clearly the ingredients and consequently the PH, cold-process soap are mainly made with oils and caustic soda (or Lye), they can contain also essential oils.

The typical pH balance of hair is around 4.5-5.0., but cold-process soap have a PH of around 7 due to caustic soda used (ok for the skin but not for the hair) which requires to rebalance it after use: that’s why Apple Cider Vinegar it’s highly recommended to use to rinse your hair after washing.

Our solid shampoos have been formulated for hair and have a PH of around 5 which is closed to hair’s PH and don’t need anything after use.

A word about the packaging

All our shampoos are sent in a biodegradable kraft box so they are protected during the shipping.

And remember 1 solid shampoo replaces 2 bottles of liquid shampoo: it’s clearly economical but also ecological

What’s not inside?

Our solid shampoos are free from all controversial chemicals we heard about and that are toxic for our health and for the Nature :

  • Parabens
  • Sodium Lauryl Sulphate (SLS)
  • Sodium Laureth Sulphate (SLES)
  • Mineral oil and derived
  • Artificial colour or fragrance

Switch to solid and organic personal care products and ditch the plastic!

What’s inside our Organic Deodorant Sticks ?

What’s inside our Organic Deodorant Sticks? How it works? Are all the ingredients safe and useful?

Some questions we’ve recently got and for which we decide to write this post within the “What’s inside?” blog section 😉

Ingredients details

All the 3 deodorants we propose have the same composition with the following ingredients:

Sodium Bicarbonate or Baking soda

A must have in all the houses. Baking soda catches bad odors without avoid your body to sweat (necessary to eliminate bad toxins).

Organic Arrow root

Arrow root absorbs moisture and leave your skin soft.

Organic Coconut oil

Coconut oil is a must have too, but here it’s for its anti-bacterial properties.

Organic Unrefined Shea Butter

Our Shea butter is organic and unrefined, wonderful ingredient that helps moistures after shaving

Cera Bellina

Cera Bellina is derivative from Beeswax. It helps to spread the product on underarms.

Organic Cocoa Butter

Cocoa Butter is great to get product in solid forms. Plus here, it also moistures the underarms.

Glyceryl Stearate Citrate

Anionic, natural and palm-free emulsifier based on rapeseed (canola) oil.

Organic Essential oils

For 2 of our 3 solid deodorants, we add drops of essential oils. Essential oils offer smells and the ones we’ve selected have an action of catching bad odors. Here what we propose for each deodorant:

  • Woodsy Deodorant : Organic Essential oils of Cedarwood and Vetiver.
  • Flowery Deodorant: Organic Essential oils of Palmarosa and Sclary sage.
  • Neutral Deodorant: no essential oils as this deodorant has been formulated for pregnant/breastfeeding women, people allergic to limonene (essential oils component) and people who prefers neutral odors 😉

And that’s it!

Is there a difference between Deodorant and Anti-perspirant?

Yes there is! The first one will let your body sweaty and elimate the bad toxins.

While the second will block the sweat and so the bad toxins inside your body.

Deodorant catches only bad odors (which is in fact the main issue) but will not stop your body doing its job.

Anti-perspirant are really dangerous for your health and we advice you to avoid them as much as possible.

A word about the packaging

All our deodorant come in biodegradable/compostable kraft paper tube printed with soy ink.

For hygienic reason and because we sell online, we do not propose product packaging-free.

What’s not inside?

We all know that the main deodorants and anti perspirant products sold on the market contain controversial ingredients, some of them have been highlighted as responsible for the increase of breast cancer…

In our solid deodorants, you will not find them:

  • Aluminum: forbidden in our food, we find it in anti perspirant deodorants, entering our body to stop sweat and control the bad toxins, but also having damages in our health
  • Parabens
  • Alcohol
  • Mineral oil

Plus, market deodorants and anti perspirants are sold in non recyclable packaging. Spray are even dangerous as they can burst into flames!

Make the switch and share your thoughts 😉

Powders’ power to wash hair!

Women all around the world used to wash their hair with powders before liquid shampoo appears.

In some places (India, Morocco..) it’s still the case and this way of washing hair comes back now in our modern societies via the ‘No Poo’ method.

Thanks to the Nature, each powder has its own benefit and combining them is really great for hair. It’s not about just washing hair, it’s about giving them nutrients they need.

Before to be added to one of our solid shampoos formulation, each plant, root, fruit or clay used for hair has been deeply investigated.

We would like, now, to give you more details about those powders and how they are awesome fro washing hair!

Kapur kachri powder

Kapur kachri is a wild ginger extracted from plant’s root in India.

It makes hair healthy, thick, shiny and fragrant. Stimulates the roots and helps in the growth of hair.
